3rd Annual Winter Lecture Series
Hosted By Trek of Pittsburgh

2010 marks the return and third year of the annual Winter Lecture Series,
hosted by the Trek of Pittsburgh Shadyside store. On Wednesday January 6th,
the Series kicks off with ³Commuting 101: City cycling tips², an informative
hour-long forum with an open discussion of Bike PGH¹s new illustrated
publication, Commuting 101. Come find out the dos and don¹ts of bike
commuting and talk with Bike PGH about the idea behind the new publication.

The Winter Lecture Series is an open-to-the-public free event held on
Wednesday evenings at 7pm to promote cycling during the colder months when
daylight hours decrease and motivation to get on the bike can become
challenging. Aimed to increase awareness of Pittsburgh¹s cycling community,
these lectures are designed as informational talks on various subjects
ranging from training techniques to sports injury prevention. An open Q&A
forum takes place at the end of each lecture with refreshments.

1. Signage rides- we will be doing a few signage rides this spring to paint markers on the trees and to get some appropriate signs up. These will be trail rides with a ton of stops to mess around and paint tree's. Once we have dry tree's to paint this spring we will probably get this started.
2. We are only doing a few hundred yards of trail this year. Nothing over the top. Going to rake in some connector trails for the new loops. We might put in one new loop but nothing crazy like last year.
3. Tweaks. We are going to focus on tweaking that which we already have. I would like to have one trail day in the spring to work on various parts of the trail and then one trail day in the fall to do something else. Every thing else will be based on whims.

there is freezing rain falling this morning and we advise all folks who were planning to attend to only join us when the roads are safe to navigate.

we will be having our event, but in a truncated fashion.

once it is safe to get to North Park, we'll be there to enjoy some outdoor and indoor fun.
